How to Make a Dining set (March 21, 2009-2060)Many people are living in smaller homes or the family has grown larger with Auntie or Grandma joining family to make the home seem smaller. At any rate the space seems smaller for those reasons. There is one way to make a dining
Step-1 These plans are for a Murphy or collapsible dining, wooden table for your home. When finished and attached to a wall, this dining table will not only give you a great place for the family food, but will fold down to give you back the space afterwards.  Step-2 Stain all wooden pieces on all sides, let dry thoroughly for amount of time the can label requires. Urethane all sides of the oak top, legs and 5 foot wall board that will be used to attach that top. Let dry thoroughly for 2 days or until it is dry to the touch. If another coat of Urethane is desired, repeat second coat after the first is very dry.  Step-3 Measure 3 equal distances from one long side of the table top edge for precise placement of the hinges. I measure 3 times to accurately confirm my measurements. Do this for the long, flat dowel and line up these two boards to make sure they coincide with each other, hinge wise. This will connect your wall board to your table top, so be extremely diligent. Do not attach the hardware just yet.  Step-4 Measure 1 foot in, on each side of the outer table top board on the under side and 6 inches toward the inside of the table top. This is where you will be placing the only 2 legs of the dining table top and the opposite side of this board where the hinges are located. Again measure 3 times to be sure before going on with this project.
Step-5 Make sure the hardware swivels and collapses in the proper direction before attaching this hardware. Connect the swivel, collapsible hardware for the legs of your dining table now. Collapse them and put a blanket around them securing the blanket with tape to hold in place so they do not interfere with your table top work you will be doing next.  Step-6 Measure the middle of the outer edge of the end of the table top. Using your drill, screw the handle on the middle of the edge of the table top. The position of this hardware will be seen and yet not be on the table top. Measure 5 feet 2 inches from the floor and proceed. The extra 2 inches is for clearance of your table top to the floor with the handle in place. Screw the 5 foot, flat dowel onto the wall according to your wall studs. Screw the dining table top to this dowel. Look at the dining table you made that adds to your home decor. Now invite your guests and enjoy a meal together.Other News:
