Multimodal 2009-2060 aims to be UK¡¯s leading transport and logistics exhibition (April 23, 2009-2060)Multimodal 2009-2060 aims to be UK¡¯s leading transport and logistics exhibitionFollowing the success of the inaugural Multimodal in 2008, this year¡¯s event, once more to be held at Birmingham¡¯s NEC from 28-30th April, aims to become the UK¡¯s leading transport and logistics conference and exhibition. At a critical time for all importers and exporters, those exposed to long and complex supply chains have a great opportunity to gain extra value from service providers, achieving supply chain efficiencies that make their own products more competitive. These opportunities can provide significant contributions to the bottom line, by improving the management of outsourced transport and logistics services.
Independent research carried out into being a ¡®better shipper¡¯ will be presented as advice, free of charge, at the Supply Chain Insight Forum to be held at Multimodal this month. ![]() For importers and exporters in the UK, globalisation, and the increased access to economic sources of manufacture it has brought, has helped fuel enormous growth over the last five years. We are now seeing, only too vividly, the more damaging consequences of globalisation, as calamity within the banking system brings rapidly-expanding, worldwide damage to consumer spending and economic growth. However, research carried out recently reveals that there are considerable efficiencies and cost savings to be made within these self-same ¡®globalised¡¯ supply chains. Supply chain professionals are taking increasing control and imposing best practices on their suppliers, as transport costs come down and service providers face higher levels of competition resulting in increased innovation. Importers and exporters will be able to take advantage of a series of short and succinct masterclasses, following research by Andreas Holter, on being a ¡®better shipper¡¯. Andreas Holter, formerly of the Logistics Research Centre at Heriot-Watt University and now a supply chain manager by profession, will be presenting the findings of his research at the Supply Chain Insight Forum at Multimodal. Holter's research has found that: ¡°There are ample opportunities in all supply chains, to provide significant contributions to the bottom line by improving the management of outsourced transport and logistics services.¡± Experts, third party service providers, importers/exporters and supply chain managers will be among those contributing their expertise, knowledge and insights in the masterclasses, which makes-up part of the Supply Chain Insight Forum. The Supply Chain Insight Forum, organised by The Shipper¡¯s Voice, also offers one-to-one surgeries with the experts, which are free to attend and pre-bookable. Other News:
